Purple Loosestrife
Perennial native to Australia and also Europe, north America and parts of Asia, it is best suited to wet or moist heavy soils but is still surprisingly tolerant of dryer soils. In summer it features masses of showy magenta/purple flowers in clusters along tall stems. In autumn it has the added benefit of rich red and orange foliage tones.
